People have asked if our articles will primarily be on business. Honestly, we have to say no. We want our focus to be on people, people in business, education, art, and places where those people go. Many times, we hear how hard it is to start, not to mention maintain, a business and we wanted to help. We decided to publish this newsletter for people like you and if you know someone who would like to receive Fly Paper pass it on.

Business and Bras: Intimate Networking

How well do you know your clients? Do you know their bra size?

This past weekend, while on a business trip, I was sitting in the hotel lounge and noticed there was a lingerie show going on in one of the conference rooms. I figured, what the heck, I’d look around, hand out my business card, and do a little networking. I saunter in trying to act as if the sexy, frilly undies everywhere was normal. I wear underwear, so it shouldn't be a problem.

As it turned out, I lucked out because the first person I ran into was the shop’s owner. We do the usual sales banter.

Are you with me? I’m talking lacey camisoles, water bras, and what not. In the back of my mind I’m thinking - Wait. Wait. Casually slide your business card into the conversation without coming on pushy. I’m running out of things to say, so I throw in the sports bra tactic, “Well, I really like wearing sports bras but…” “They squish?” she finishes my sentence. “Yeah!” I reply.

Ok, now I know we’ve all been here. Well maybe not the lingerie but closing the “networking bit.” I’m thinking, Ok, now is my chance. She then floors me by saying, “Your bra size is …” (continue to story)

The Pass

Used car salespeople aren't the only masters of the shell game. My not so esteemed peers in photography have become quite the dealers as well. I’m going to let you in on an industry secret. Though it is not obvious to the average consumer baffles me. Photographers, even those high priced, Images by (insert name here) pay the same price you would pay for photographic prints. In fact, they pay less if volume is involved. (continue to story)

Dear IT Guy,
I can't get any new e-mails. When someone sends me an e-mail it gets returned to the sender with a message saying the recipient's box is full. I've deleted all my old e-mail in the inbox but still cannot get any new e-mails. What should I do? Help!! — Incommunicado

Dear Incommunicado,
You have a very common e-mail problem. You say you have deleted all the mail from your inbox, but you do not mention if you have any extra folders set up for archieving mail. First of all have you deleted the e-mail from your trash can? Have you cleaned out your archieved folders? If you haven't you need to. All these e-mails are still counting toward you total allotment of space for email, thus the error for not enough space. — IT Guy
